Global Mental Health
Global mental health refers to the study, practice, and advocacy of promoting mental health and treating mental illness on a global scale. It aims to address inequities in mental health care and access to resources across different regions and populations worldwide. Global mental health focuses on recognizing and addressing the social, cultural, and economic determinants of mental health and illness, as well as the development and implementation of effective prevention, treatment, and support interventions.
In recent years, the field of global mental health has responded to the needs and priorities of diverse communities by encouraging greater representation of researchers, practitioners, and advocates from low- and middle-income countries, as well as by prioritizing community-led and culturally sensitive approaches to mental health care.
The articles in this month’s Editor’s Choice Collection reflect diverse perspectives and collaborations among a broad range of stakeholders from different contexts. Global mental health care aims to be equitable, accessible, and responsive to the needs of all individuals and communities. The journal supports the publication of articles led by co-authors of different genders, career stages, and sociocultural and ethnic backgrounds and from low- and middle-income countries.
