This review has attempted to highlight the recent advances in our knowledge of the psychopharmacological treatment of anxiety disorders. Overall, substantial advances have been realized. We should anticipate further significant advances particularly in our understanding of the biology and treatment of panic disorder, social phobia, and obsessive-compulsive disorder.
