Abstract

Developments in the planning, beginning, and ultimate demise of a community aftercare program illustrate the various personal styles and traits of the administrators involved and the difficulties of interagency cooperation. Clinical or administrative knowledge may be less important in successfully implementing community programs than are the characteristics of initiative, acceptance of responsibility, and commitment to activism, involvement, and calculated risk-taking.
