Since its opening in 1970, the Calgary Drug Information and Crisis Center has operated a variety of direct and indirect services, provided largely by young volunteers. Highest priority has been given to educational seminars for the public and for the helping professions. The center also maintains a 24-hour telephone and walk-in crisis service, has worked with the school system and local jail to establish counseling programs, and has helped other communities organize their own drug programs.
