Another year has come and gone; each one seems to pass more quickly than the previous year. It has been another challenging time on many fronts, but it has also been a year of change and hope for the field. With the steadfast efforts of practitioners, researchers, advocates, and consumers and their families, we will reap the benefits of change and enjoy many years of progress toward better treatments, more integrated and effective systems, and increased support for services and research.
In 2009 we published another 12 issues of Psychiatric Services with the assistance of our reviewers. Our outstanding staff and I wish to express our appreciation to you for your judgments and advice. Most of all we are grateful for your thoughtful guidance to authors for revising their manuscripts. The review process is the key to a successful scholarly journal; it is our chief mechanism for quality control. Thank you for your hard work and dedication, particularly to those of you who have completed several reviews and reevaluations of revised papers during the year.
—Howard H. Goldman, M.D., Ph.D., Editor
Note: Because of the copy deadline for the December issue, the reviewers listed below are those who submitted a review between October 1, 2008, and September 30, 2009.
