Web Sites Worth Watching

Psychiatric Services offers a monthly listing of mental-health-related Web sites and other sites of interest. This list changes monthly as new sites are identified and existing sites add new features. Society for Gestalt Theory and Its Applications—www.enabling.org/ia/gestalt/gerhards/gtax.html Provides background information on Gestalt theory, Gestalt theoretical psychotherapy, and the society. Also lists the society's roll of honor and Gestalt institutes worldwide.
Psychoanalytic Studies—www.shef.ac.uk/~psysc/psastud/index.html The Web site for this quarterly on-line and print publication, published by the Centre for Psychoanalytic Studies at Sheffield University, offers a description of the journal's evolution, selected full-text articles and reviews, information for contributors, and information about the editorial staff and editorial board.
International Journal of Psychopathology, Psychopharmacology, and Psychotherapy—www.psycom.net/ijppp.html An on-line, peer-reviewed journal that focuses on original theoretical formulations regarding psychopathology, research findings, treatment experiences, prevention methods, professional education, and legal and policy concerns that affect the care of persons with psychiatric disorders.
AIM DocFinder—www.docboard.org Maintained by the Association of State Medical Board Executive Directors, the site allows users to search for licensed doctors by state and reveals whether licensing boards have taken action against specific doctors.
Multiple Sclerosis Foundation—www.msfacts.org Users can learn general information about multiple sclerosis, read about recent research, and sign up for an online newsletter on the topic. They may also ask specific questions of doctors or peruse recent questions and answers.
Office for Human Research Protections—ohrp.osophs.dhhs.gov/index.htm The Web site of this Department of Health and Human Services office offers compliance procedures, explanations of responsibilities, and information on workshops and presentations on protecting human research subjects.
Combined Health Information Database Online—chid.nih.gov/welcome/welcome.html This bibliographic database, produced by health-related agencies of the federal government, provides titles, abstracts, and availability information for health information and health education resources.
Haim Weinberg's Group Psychotherapy Resource Guide—www.group-psychotherapy.com Offers a basic introduction to group psychotherapy, a group psychotherapy online professional discussion list, and information about courses and other training.

Medical Specialists' Network News Site for Psychiatrists—PsychLinx.com

PsychLinx.com collects and summarizes news and research of interest to psychiatrists and presents it in a daily headline and summary format with links to the original sources. A few of the sources include the American Journal of Psychiatry, Archives of General Psychiatry, and Schizophrenia Bulletin. Visitors to the site, which is searchable by keyword, can sign up to receive daily e-mail newsletters in several subspecialty areas, including addiction, anxiety, child psychiatry, forensic psychiatry, geriatric psychiatry, mood disorders, neuropsychiatry, psychoanalysis, psychopharmacology, schizophrenia, and psychotherapy. PsychLinx.com, which was launched in August, is the eighth in the MDLinx network of 34 Web sites for physicians that is being developed by the Medical Specialists' Network.
